Akash Bhatt is an Architecture graduate and has also received professional training in table from Saptak School of Music. His journey as a percussionist began as a drummer in a band, which was coincidently with current music artists of Abhivyakti – Himanshu and Paulom. From here, he evolved his skills, by using fusion of Indian classical and western music in his band performance. This journey has taken him on various global stages, both as a composer and a performer. He comes to Abhivyakti Edition 2 as a seasoned musician with a unique concept called Roots-Branches, that takes the roots of music, and shows its evolution through the ages. The concept does not end at merely showing the journey of the music, but will also reflect on ‘where it will branch to next’, making this composition, both nostalgic and visionary at the same time. In his words, Akash describes this piece to be “an exploration of music’s history, its origins, its rebirth and it’s renaissance, all packed in one 60 minute piece”.
