The renowned Kathak dancers, Maulik Shah and Ishira Parikh stand apart amongst the foremost classical dancers of India not only for their exceptional command and authority over their medium and their innovative approach to presentation. They embody the new spirit in the field of Indian classical dance. Not only as dancers but also as choreographers, they have displayed their creative excellence. Their choreographic endeavours reflect the synthesis of the highest level of sensitivity and intelligence. They have attracted newer and larger audiences to Kathak dance through their productions. Considering their outstanding contribution to Kathak Dance the Central Sangeet Natak Akademi, New Delhi has awarded them the prestigious “Akademi Puraskar”. Maulik and Ishira have been designated by the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR). The Central Production Center (CPC), New Delhi, has recorded their "Roopmati Baz Bahadur" production for a nationwide telecast. They have performed in more than 40 countries They are recipients of many prestigious awards such as the ‘Gaurav Puruskaar,' among many others.
